Reliable, powerful, and affordable to boot- what more could you want in a vacuum sealer? The Gourmia GVS435 is an all-around great device, with its impressive performance, attractive design, and a budget-friendly price tag. If you are on the lookout for a vacuum sealer that would up your sous vide game, this particular model is a fantastic choice.

Pros of Gourmia GVS435

  • easy to use
  • a wide range of modes- manual and automatic
  • works with generic rolls and bags
  • affordable price

It’s incredible how Gourmia GVS435 offers a user-friendly experience. It’s easy to use, but that doesn’t mean your options are limited: you can go from fully automatic to fully manual in seconds. If you want to seal a bag with something that’s not immersed in liquids and it’s not crushable, for instance, a steak, just pop it in the pouch and press the green button, and you’re all done. However, if you wish for more control than that, you’ve got it, too. This impressive unit boasts 8 separate functions you can access with a simple click of the button: vacuum and seal, pulse, manual seal, canister, gentle, moist, normal and dry. For instance, if you’d want to gradually suck the air out of the pouch as to protect the foods from being crushed under pressure (think chips), you’d do that with using the pulse button.

Additionally, for sous vide cooking, it’s great to have a moist setting for sealing, to make sure that foods in oil and seasoning get properly sealed.

Cons of Gourmia GVS435

  • not great with liquids

Although the Gourmia GVS435 has an overall great performance, mostly due to its versatile functions, it’s known to be a let down when it comes to vacuuming wet items. It’s not the best choice if you mostly seal foods in liquids, such as sauces or marinades, that could potentially leak and break the seal. While it might do just well with moist foods, it’s not the best choice for users who plan on using their vacuum sealer on a variety of wet and liquid-rich foods.

The Verdict

If you want a vacuum sealer that performs great but won’t make a big dent in your budget, the Gourmia GVS435 is the way to go. This versatile kitchen gadget offers 8 modes of operation, and it will deliver perfect results with almost any type of food. To boot, you can upgrade this model with a handheld sealer attachment (sold separately) that will increase its scope of usefulness even more- it will allow you to suck out air out of containers and keep wine fresh for longer with a wine stopper. In case you plan on using your vacuum sealer for more things than just making pouches for sous vide, this can come in handy.
